Does what it’s supposed to do
I bought these to replace the thick jacketed cable that was so heavy it would not stay plugged into the back of my computer, it would fall out at the slightest bump or movement. These cables are much, much lighter, and stays in place, which saves me from constantly crawling under my desk to plug it back in. There is no noticeable difference in the signal it sends to my DAC from the computer, which is expected since it is just sending light, it either works 100% or it doesn’t.The only downside is they do seem fragile, but I don’t intend on tying them in knots or using them as shoelaces, so I’m not too worried about longevity.

Good quality cables – cheap, but not in a bad way
These cables are great. They work well for basic optical connections, and I have them plugged into both my TV and PC. The cables are thin so you have to be a bit careful with them, but for the very low price for each cable, it’s not an issue at all. If you need cheap optical cables and/or a single one with a cheap backup on standby, you can’t go wrong with these.

Two working optical cables and a free LED light to help plug the cable in correctly (handy if there is not a lot of light at the back of the PC etc.).If you are not experienced in using optical cables, do remember to remove the clear shipping protectors at *both* ends of the cable. The image shows the cable with one protector removed and (as a point of comparison) one not removed. Do not attempt to use this cable unless both protectors are removed — the cable will not work and inserting the cables with the protectors in place will probably damage the equipment. Enough said.I have no idea why the complaints concerning the diameter of the cable and the claimed commensurate frailty, the cable only has to pass light, and snap in to the socket securely. It’s plenty sturdy for the intended purpose. It’s not intended to be used for water skiing, towing cars, or as an anchor line or mooring for a boat. It’s not electrically conductive, it’s purely optical, it doesn’t need decorations such as gold plating or nylon braiding. This cable, with reasonable care, will likely outlast its owner.Ignore the haters, it’s a good deal.
